Another Banger Posted on September 5, 2023 by Cyril Reply Why do Western radio personalities associate “Calm Down” so much with Selina Gomez that many may not even know that the song was written by Rema, a Nigerian artist?
Chimamanda And Transgender Controversy Posted on June 18, 2021 by Cyril Reply Chimamanda is a highly celebrated Nigerian novelist. Her online essay, “IT IS OBSCENE: A TRUE REFLECTION IN THREE PARTS” (https://www.chimamanda.com/”has sparked controversy and attracted a lot of attention. The Code Breaker by Walter Isaacson: Beyond a Review Posted on April 21, 2021 by Cyril Walter Isaacson is one of the world’s best biographers having studied and written about many including Steven Jobs, Albert Einstein and others. “The Code Breaker” is his brilliantly written biography of Jennifer Doudna who in 2020 shared the Nobel Prize in Chemistry with a French research collaborator, Emmanuella Charpentier. This is a fascinating story of a beautiful precocious girl from Hilo. While in 6th grade, her father had left on her bed “The Double Helix” written by Nobel Laureate James Watson. Inspired by the story in the book of Rosalind Franklin, a structural biologist and crystallographer, Jennifer went on “to do science” despite the fact she had been told that “girls don’t do science.” Jennifer Doudna’s story allows us a peek into the collaboration and fierce competition in research laboratories that helps foster scientific advancements. My Covid-19 Vaccination Experience Posted on February 16, 2021 by Cyril I had my first shot on Thursday, January 28, 2021. It was Moderna. Getting the appointment wasn’t easy. As a senior, 65 and older, I thought the vaccine was simply mine if I asked. But not so due to the current shortage. In any event, my daughter was able to keep refreshing her screen until she bumped into a site that apparently may have just been opened. My appointment was at Sayreville Fire Academy-6, 1001 Fire Academy Drive, Sayreville, NJ 08872 on January 28, 2021 with a start time of 12:15 pm EST. CLICK TO CONTINUE TO ARTICLE …

A Promised Land by Barack Obama: A Review Posted on February 9, 2021 by Cyril A Promised Land is a pleasurable book to read — in spite of its volume — over 700 pages. As a reader, you are captivated by the beauty and power of the prose. You start to wonder whether this is indeed a memoir written by a political figure. But then you realize it is written by Barack Obama, a former president of the Harvard Law Review, and not by a Congressman from a gerrymandered district who could win re-election even if he walked on his head. Prof. Donald Harris: Kamala Harris’ Father Posted on January 29, 2021 by Cyril I am often concerned when celebrities appear to wave off their fathers. It is so very common in this society where a single parent more often than not equates to a single mother. While in no way making excuses for so-called deadbeat dads, I am nonetheless a bit worried when all divorced men are treated as nothing less than criminals. CLICK TO CONTINUE TO ARTICLE …
Get Your Knee Off My neck For I Can’t Breathe and I Want Some Respect Posted on January 29, 2021 by Cyril As the nation mourns George Floyd I can’t help but continue to think about what has become the cry of black America: “I can’t breathe.” Why do white American police men want to choke the life out of black America? How did we get to this point? CLICK TO CONTINUE TO ARTICLE …
